Being present is the first step, but listening well is how you turn presence into real support.

Listening is more than just hearing words. It’s tuning in fully — to what’s said, what’s left unsaid, and how it’s said.

Active listening means:

  • Giving your full attention without interrupting

  • Showing you’re engaged with nods or small sounds like “mhmm”

  • Reflecting back what you hear in your own words (“It sounds like you’re feeling…”).

Mini Challenge: In your next conversation, focus on reflecting back what you hear instead of jumping in with advice.
